Over 150 varsity girl swimmers from across the region competed in this charity fundraising event which pitted the Livingston Conference (LCAA) as one team against rivals of the Finger Lakes League (FLL). This unique cross-conference meet gives the girls the opportunity to be teammates at a swim meet instead of competitors and to form new friendships with girls from other schools. Co-chairmen, Jim and Natalie Welch, believe the success of this meet continues each year because of the bond that lies between the lady swimmers, coaches and officials from both leagues. These individuals and numerous other volunteers create the success of this charitable event. Swimmers were mixed with schools in their league to compete in 12 events. The intentions of the Duel are to establish a competitive, fun-filled meet while raising money for a much needed cause. And once again this year, the mission was accomplished! A highly competitive meet was swam with LCAA pulling out the win, however, the real winner was the 2022 Duel charity, Wreaths Across America. The Duel netted a total of $2,625.00 for this charitable organization through canvas bag sales, admissions, donations, and a 50/50. This amount will allow the LCAA and FLL girls to purchase 175 wreaths to be placed on the graves of our country's fallen heroes at the Bath National Cemetery to remember and honor our veterans. Randy Metz, from the US Department of Veterans Affairs was presented with the donations to purchase the wreaths. Sophie Denney was named Livonia's Swimmer of the Meet for qualifying in the 100 fly.
