Dr. Calzi

LIVONIA, NY – June 11, 2024 – Livonia Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Calzi as the new Principal of Livonia Middle/High School, effective July 1, 2024.  In making his recommendation to the Board of Education, Dr. Jeremy Lonneville, Superintendent of Schools, stated that “throughout the application and interview process, Dr. Calzi showed himself to be the right person at the right time for Livonia Middle/High School.  The feedback from the faculty and staff was overwhelmingly in support of Dr. Calzi.  We look forward to his transition into this position and for what the future holds for Livonia MHS under his leadership.”

Dr. Calzi brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence in educational leadership. With extensive expertise in both administrative and teaching roles, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to student success, professional development, and community engagement.  Furthermore, Dr. Calzi has shown himself to be a dedicated member of our school community in the last three years while he has served as the Middle/High School Assistant Principal.

Dr. Calzi holds a Doctorate in Teaching and Curriculum from the University of Rochester, where he was a National Science Foundation Noyce Fellow. He also earned a Master of Science in Teaching and Curriculum, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Geological Sciences and Anthropology from the State University of New York at Geneseo. His academic achievements are complemented by multiple New York State certifications, including School Building Leadership, School District Leadership, Earth Science Education, and General Science Education.

In his most recent role as the Middle/High School Assistant Principal at Livonia Central School District, Dr. Calzi was responsible for overseeing activities, attendance, discipline, and academics for grades 6-12. He played a pivotal role in supporting instruction, curriculum development, and teacher supervision. Dr. Calzi also facilitated professional learning initiatives and participated in key planning and development teams, including the Building Planning Team and the development of an Alternative Learning Center.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Calzi served as the High School Assistant Principal at Spencerport Central School District, where he supported instruction, curriculum development, and facilitated district-wide professional learning on culturally responsive education and social-emotional learning. His experience extends to the Rochester City School District, where he held various leadership positions, including Acting Middle School Assistant Principal and Lead Teacher/Content-Focused Instructional Coach. He has a robust background in curriculum development, professional learning, and mentorship, making him a well-rounded and dynamic leader.

Dr. Calzi is eager to begin his new role and collaborate with students, staff, and families to continue promoting excellence in education at Livonia Middle/High School.
