On Monday, the MasterMinds team entered round 1 of the playoffs. Since it was double elimination, the Bulldogs were still alive after a 270-175 loss to Fairport. Livonia rebounded by defeating Romulus 180-85 in the next match. In the final match of the night, Livonia faced RH. The winner would advance to the second (and final) round next week. RH jumped out to a 45 point lead before Hannah W got Livonia on the board. The Bulldogs rallied, trailing only 125-115 at the half. It stayed close throughout the second half. Livonia answered the final question correctly, earning a chance to win it with the bonus round questions. Unfortunately, electromagnetism proved to be too elusive a topic. Soooooo close! Livonia has never made the second round in the modern era, so falling 5 points short (195-190) is very impressive! Top scorers for the night were Ellie D (115 points), Grace D (60 points), and Thomas C (20 points). It has been a great season, and we’ll miss our graduating seniors, Grace D and Levi W!

🎷🎺🎶The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Andrew Lawton, brought last night's concert to a memorable close. Highlights included a heartfelt rendition of "Send in the Clowns," dedicated to Mr. Lawton's mother and beautifully sung by Lucy S. The ensemble also showcased "Air Conditioner," an original piece written and directed by Herb Smith. The evening concluded with a lively performance of "Chili Today, Hot Tamale," featuring the incredible Herb Smith on trumpet.

🎷🎺🎶 The Senior High Jazz Lab, under the expert direction of Andrew Lawton, took the stage second at last night's Jazz Festival. The group delivered a stellar performance of five songs, including "25 or 6 to 4," made famous by Chicago in the 1970s.
