🏈Season Wrap-up
The Bulldog football team traveled to Attica this past Friday for a Sectional quarterfinal matchup against Attica-Alexander. The Dawgs were looking to avenge a regular season loss to a very tough A-A squad. The Bulldogs came ready to play on this beautiful late October night and dominated A-A for the first 2 quarters of play. The Dawgs received the opening kickoff and proceeded to churn out 5 first downs that ended up consuming the whole 1st quarter of play that saw Jackson Trubia sneak the ball in from the 1-yard line to give the Dawgs an early lead of 7 - 0, with a PAT by Levi Woolston. The Bulldogs Offensive line led by Jackson Cook, Tommy Stewart, Zach Williamson, Wyatt Shannon, Alex Bohrer, and AJ Peri controlled the line of scrimmage while keeping Attica's offense on the sidelines. When A-A finally got the ball in the 2nd quarter, Livonia's defense was up to the challenge and forced A-A to punt on their first 2 possessions, The Bulldog offense did manage to move the ball in the 2nd quarter but was unable to get into the end zone. The Dawgs were poised to go into halftime leading by 7, but A-A scored on a desperation pass with no time left on the clock in the first half which tied the game at 7,
The Bulldogs kicked the ball to A-A to start the 2nd half and a good return gave A-A great field position, and they would take advantage of that and score on a 29-yard run that pushed them into the lead. A-A would not relinquish their lead and would score 3 more times in the 2nd half to come away with a 35 to 7 win. Livonia was led on Offense by Senior Kyle Wetterings who had 55 yards on the night. The defense was anchored by Junior Derrick Lane who had his best game of the season leading the way with 8 tackles and some outstanding punts that helped keep A-A in a bad field position. Senior defensive lineman Zach Williamson had another stellar night on defense chipping in with 5 tackles while Seniors LB Alex Bohrer (5 tackles) and Owen Wetterings (6 tackles and a fumble recovery). Junior CB Aveion Santiago got his nose in on several tackles as well throughout the game. Senior Carlos Vega Meyer made his presence felt late in the game with a couple of defensive stops as well.
The Bulldogs graduate 14 Seniors from this team and will look for an undefeated JV team to help out in 2024.
