The Livonia High School Nevin’s math team left at 8 a.m. this morning for their competition! The competition is open to all high school students. All participants take a 75-minute exam consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions which are based on the first three years of the high school mathematics curriculum. The exam stresses original thinking and creative problem-solving. Calculators are not allowed. Prizes are awarded this afternoon.
On Thursday, the Academic Challenge Bowl team closed out the fall regular season. First up was York, who handily beat the Bulldogs 410-190. The second match of the night went back and forth, right down to the wire. Unfortunately, LeRoy got the win 340-310. That leaves Livonia at 5-3 for the season, waiting to hear if they have made the final four playoffs on November 28. (We won’t know for sure for a week or two, but history says that a 5-3 record gives them a very good chance to make the playoffs!) It’s been a great start to the year, between the largest crew of 6th graders ever (the future looks bright!) and the enthusiasm of everyone on the team! Thursday’s top scorers were Peyton B (90 points), Audrey D and Nolan C (80 points), and Claire P (50 points).
It might be Halloween when your lunch is served by a pickle and your nurses are from Scooby Doo.
