🎶✨ Fine Arts Friday brings us all the creative vibes this week at Livonia!
In Elementary Music, students have been having so much fun with themed songs, instruments, and movement activities! Our younger students have been singing Halloween songs with plenty of rhythm and movement. Meanwhile, our older students are diving into more advanced instruments as they collaborate in our "Modern Band" curriculum. 🎸🥁
Over at the High School, our Ceramics students have been getting their hands dirty learning how to throw on the potter’s wheel. They’ve been mastering the art of centering, opening, and creating vessels like bowls and mugs. It’s messy, but it’s a whole lot of fun! 🎨✨

🎃🍂 Our PreK students enjoyed a beautiful fall day yesterday at the “pumpkin patch”! The courtyard at the Elementary School was transformed into a festive patch, thanks to a generous donation of pumpkins from J&A Farm Market. 🎉 The kids had so much fun picking their pumpkins and decorating them with glue and colorful tissue paper. 🌈✨
Some classes also explored the pumpkins in a pumpkin investigation, checking out the inside and outside of their pumpkins and counting the seeds! 🌻🍁
It was a day full of fun, learning, and fall festivities! 🎃

🏀 What do our Academic Challenge Bowl team and the Boston Celtics have in common? Besides sinking threes, they might just go undefeated this season! 💪 (another thing they have in common is that Coach Scheuer is a Celtics and ACB fan!)
The ACB team was back in action on Tuesday, and they showed out! In their first match, the Bulldogs took an early lead against Cal-Mum, finishing with a 360-160 victory. Match #2 was no different, as Livonia cruised past Byron-Bergen with a 400-160 win.
This well-rounded team had every player answering at least one question correctly in two out of the four halves—a rare feat that shows just how much every Bulldog is stepping up! 🐾
Top scorers of the day: 🏆 Nolan C. - 210 points 🏆 Finn C. - 130 points 🏆 Bryce W. - 70 points
Way to go, Bulldogs! 🔥 They wrap up the regular season with 3 matches on 10/29. 🎉 #BulldogPride #GoDawgs

🍂 5th Grade Visit to Seneca Park Zoo 🍂
Yesterday, our 5th graders enjoyed a beautiful fall day at Seneca Park Zoo! 🌞 They had a special presentation on invasive species, connecting directly with their science curriculum. Students got an up-close look at species that aren’t part of the public zoo exhibits, gaining a deeper understanding of the impact these species have on our environment. 🐾🌿
💗 Tomorrow, October 23rd, we invite you to wear pink to Take A Stand Against Bullying! October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and kindness plays a huge role in building a positive school environment. Let's show our support and stand together. #TakeAStand
❓ Why Pink? The tradition began in 2007 when two high school students in Nova Scotia took a stand after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. They bought pink shirts for classmates to wear in solidarity, and now pink symbolizes the fight against bullying. 💪Their small act of kindness quickly grew into a global anti-bullying initiative.
Reminder the 4th grade band parent meeting is tonight at 6:30 in the ES Cafeteria.

🚍 Mrs. Kuhn's Class Visits the Transportation Center! 🚍
Mrs. Kuhn's class had an exciting trip to the Transportation Center last week! The students enjoyed a tour of the facility and were thrilled to see where the buses “sleep” at night.
This visit was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about bus safety and gain a behind-the-scenes look at our transportation operations. A big thank you to Mr. Orman and the team for making this experience possible!
Check out these photos from their visit! 📸
📚 Community Read Alouds Begin in the Elementary School! 📚
Today marked the start of our Community Read Alouds in the Elementary School, led by Principal Mr. Whittel and Assistant Principal Mrs. Hysick! This special event gathers students by grade level to explore important topics.
This month's theme was Empathy—helping students understand and appreciate the feelings of others. Older students listened to The Kids' Book of Diversity: Empathy, Kindness, and Respect for Differences by Catherine Stephenson, while younger students enjoyed It's Okay to Be Different by Todd Parr.
It was a great start to fostering kindness and understanding in our school community! 💙📖

Today, our 2nd graders stepped back in time to experience life in a one-room schoolhouse! 🏫 Dressed in their best 1800s attire, students enjoyed a fun-filled day of activities that brought history to life.
They had a lively hoedown, wrote with quills, tried their hand at tin punching, did some sewing, and crafted beautiful patchwork pumpkins. 🎃✍️🧈 What a wonderful way to wrap up all their learning about the past!
🦉✨ UPK Nocturnal Animal Day ✨🦇
Our UPK students had an exciting adventure today learning all about nocturnal animals! 🦊🌙 They spent the day in the dark, exploring the fascinating world of creatures that come out at night. From owls to bats and more, students wore adorable headbands showcasing different animals as they embraced the fun and learning.
It was a day full of discovery, creativity, and lots of smiles! 😊
