Congratulations to our High School PageTurners who won today's competition and tied Geneseo for the Fall and Spring combined scores and will head to finals!
Two words to describe last night's ACB matches. Holy cow! (Or merciful Zeus!)(Or jumping Jehoshaphat!) (Or by all the howling monkeys in the great skies above, if you’re feeling a bit more verbose) The Academic Challenge Bowl team finished the regular season yesterday. By our calculations, a win against RH Roth was needed to (unofficially) put us in the playoffs. The team took care of that by erasing a 70-60 halftime deficit to win 190-130. In the second match, an undefeated Victor gave us their best shot, storming out to a 70-0 lead. Livonia hung in there, though! Trailing by 35 points as the last question was read, Livonia buzzed in and answered correctly to get 10 points and the right to answer the 3 bonus questions. Just like Ray Allen stepping to the free throw line, the team was cool under pressure and gave 3 correct answers in a row to win 170-165! 6-2 for the season and just waiting on official word regarding the playoffs! (And what will the team wear to the playoffs? Based on one of last night’s answers, their Tasmanian Devil wool sweaters, of course!) Leading scorers were Ellie D (70 points), Owen A (30 points), and Miranda B and Gavin S (10 points apiece). What a great way to close the regular season! - Coach Scheuer
