Academic Challenge Bowl is an academic competition for middle school students that promotes intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning. Students compete in teams to answer questions across multiple disciplines, such as science, history, literature, math, pop culture, current events, and more. Meetings include practice sessions where students enhance their quick recall skills and develop strategies for answering complex questions. The team competes against other schools, providing a great opportunity for students to showcase their academic talents and represent Livonia with pride.

Brainstormers/Masterminds is an exciting team-based academic competition that challenges students to think quickly and work collaboratively to answer trivia questions on a variety of topics, including history, science, literature, math, pop culture, current events, and more. Open to high school students, this club offers the perfect environment for those who love knowledge and enjoy a friendly competition. Teams compete against other schools in the region, honing their quick recall skills and deepening their understanding of academic subjects. Practices focus on teamwork and strategy as participants prepare for regional tournaments.

Is Climate Change happening in Livonia? Should we be worried?
Livonia’s high school Climate Connections club is an outdoor club that focuses on collecting data to document changes in climate. Club members go on hikes to learn how natural systems work, and they collect data on human consumption to see how natural and human systems are connected.
The club’s main project is the production of pure maple syrup from sugar maple trees right here on campus. Get Connected. Join the club.

Do you want to make some changes to help our Earth and make Livonia a "greener" school? Then this club is for you! We make connections between our actions and how it impacts our climate, then work to take action. We have started a battery recycling program and composting at the MHS, and are ready to hear about your new ideas.

Community Service Club is a student-led organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the local community and the surrounding world. Open to all students, the club encourages teamwork, leadership, and compassion by organizing various volunteer activities, such as Big Buddies, Toys for Tots, food drives, and fundraising for local charities. Through these initiatives, members learn the value of service, develop strong interpersonal skills, and foster a sense of responsibility to their community.

Are you up for a challenge? Do you like to design your own experiments or work with LEGOs and robotics? Then this is the club for you! You'll spend 2-3 months working on your project and then compete against other schools one day in March at the science fair at RIT.

GSA is a student-led club that aims to create a safe and inclusive school environment for all students and promotes equality and acceptance. We provide a supportive space for students to meet, talk about issues related to gender identity and expression, and support each other.

The ICE Competition (aka Interscholastic Competition in English) is held in January at SUNY Geneseo each year. It is a one-day competition and will be held on Thursday the 9th, 2025. Students compete against roughly 10 other neighboring schools with three teams of three in the following areas: Reading Interpretation, Creative Writing, and Dramatic Presentation. In keeping with tradition, Livonia has continued to demonstrate pride through performance in this academic competition. Please consider trying out for any one or more of the areas at the end of October and joining me in this day of academic exercise and fun! Help Livonia win back the cup! Meets: Once tryouts are over and teams have been established, we will meet to practice depending on our schedules. We will establish practice dates and times between November 1, 2024 - January 8, 2025.
Interact Club is the junior branch of the Rotary International Service Organization. One of the largest organizations in the world. To provide service to others, develop leadership skills, practice thoughtfulness and helpfulness, and build respect for others. Interact Club teams up with the American Red Cross to hold yearly blood drives (a scholarship is given to an Interact Club member each year). Some other community service projects Interact Club has done are Toys For Tots, Coat Drives, Various fundraisers for organizations, Mini Dance/Prom for fellow special classes, Valentine's Day Flower/Crush. Come join us and bring your ideas!

International Club is for students interested in learning about the world, continents and countries. Come explore different cultures, learn about people who live in other countries and taste the foods they eat.

The 7th and 8th grade jazz band is a fun ensemble that gives students the chance to explore a diverse range of musical styles. In this group, students will master the fundamentals of various genres, delve into basic improvisation techniques, and, if interested, learn to play a secondary instrument. The repertoire spans from classic jazz standards to contemporary pop hits.

In Kindness club members will create a community where compassion, respect and empathy thrive. If you are someone who is interested in performing random acts of kindness this is the club for you. Let’s be a school where kindness isn’t optional – it’s a priority!

MHS Ski and Snowboard Club is open to all students in grades 6-12! Even if you have NEVER tried skiing/snowboarding and do not own equipment, we would love for you to join us! We travel to Swain six evenings in January/February where students can take lessons and ski/snowboard. Discounted tickets/rentals are available through the club. Transportation to and from the mountain is also provided.

The math team participates in competitive mathematics events, promoting problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a passion for mathematics through practice and academic competition.

Meets: There will be one competition a month for the months of November-February. Students who do well can qualify to attend a State Competition in April. The Middle School Math Team provides students in grades 6-8 with an opportunity to dive deeper into mathematics and explore problem-solving in a competitive and collaborative setting. Members of the team meet regularly to work on challenging math problems, develop their mathematical thinking, and learn to approach problems from different angles. The team competes against other schools in the county and region, fostering a love of math and promoting critical thinking skills.

This is a national organization with local chapters, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. We are the Ralph J. Davis chapter of National Honor Society, and have focuses on service, character, scholarship, and leadership.

Who: Eligible 10th-12th grade students.
How to Join?: Membership is only open to eligible students who meet certain requirements and have a 90 average or above. There is an application and induction process that includes review and selection by a Faculty Council that occurs once per year. Any eligible students can apply and will be notified about membership by the organization.

Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program where students work in teams to develop innovative solutions to a variety of challenges. Open to all grades 6-8 the program encourages participants to think outside the box by tackling unique problems that involve engineering, performance, and teamwork. Teams present their solutions in a competitive yet fun environment, fostering skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Through hands-on projects and skit-based presentations, students learn how to approach problems from multiple angles while having fun and building confidence.

Page Turners is a club where students read books from a book list, write trivia questions about their book(s), and then compete in a trivia-style competition twice a year. Competitions are done group style and may include a 3rd competition if the team places in the top 2 for their region.

Meets: Meetings are once a week, but the day of week varies depending on the availability of the students after school. Meetings usually entail discussions about the books students are reading and time to write trivia questions.

Page Turners is for students who enjoy reading or listening to audiobooks. Each student is asked to read a minimum of two books in the fall and two books in the spring. Our knowledge is tested when we attend two competitions during the school year.

Reflections Poetry and Art Magazine is a student-run publication that celebrates creativity and self-expression through words and visuals. Open to all aspiring writers and artists, the magazine showcases original poems, short stories, drawings, and other artwork created by middle school students.

Meets: Regularly throughout the school year starting after the holidays. Meets occur more frequently as we get closer to publication date.
The Science Olympiad is a STEM competition that encourages students to learn science and engineering through hands-on activities, teamwork, and problem-solving: Students compete in over 23 events that cover a range of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science. The regional competition is held each February at St. John Fisher College.

Meets: Regularly throughout the school year to prepare for the competition. Students generally prepare outside of school in addition to the school meetings.
Spanish Club seeks to appreciate all related to Spanish language and Hispanic culture. We will work on bringing cultural experiences to the school as well as international trips.

The student council represents and advocates for the student body, promoting leadership, school spirit, community involvement, and the organization of events and initiatives to enhance the school experience. We organize all of the homecoming events (pep rally, spirit week, parade, dance, etc), spring day, and teacher appreciation just to highlight a few of our responsibilities.
